Minapure lubricants were specially developed to maintain top performance in the precision ball bearings used in dental handpieces.
- MINAPURE HANDPIECE CLEANER & LUBRICANT is an aerosol designed to remove wear products and ingested debris from handpiece internal cavities while leaving a lubricating oil film on bearing surfaces. It is particularly suited for use prior to autoclave.
- MINAPURE HANDPIECE LUBRICANT is specially formulated to minimize ball bearing wear under the high speeds and high dynamic loads imposed by modern dental handpiece design.
- MINAPURE HANDPIECE GREASE is a synthetic, autoclavable grease designed for ball bearing lubrication in handpiece designs requiring grease.
Cleaning
The miniature precision ball bearings in a high-speed dental handpiece support a bur rotating at 400,000 rpm while maintaining axis position within a few micrometers. Particulate contamination from sources such as ingested cutting debris or polymerized lubricant can rapidly degrade handpiece performance and promotes bearing failure.
MINAPURE HANDPIECE CLEANER & LUBRICANT is a pressurized aerosol solution of oil and solvent that can be injected into the handpiece head through the drive-air tube to flush residual debris and lubricant from the bearings and other internal cavities. The special applicator supplied with each can allows efficient application to all 2, 3, and 4-tube connector configurations. Cleaned surfaces are protected by the residual oil left upon solvent evaporation, preparing them for autoclaving or immediate use.
Autoclaving
Protocol in modern dental practice includes instrument stenlization between patients The autoclave method is widely used for this purpose and incorporates high-pressure steam at temperatures up to 135°C. While autoclave-compatible materials for handpiece ball bearings are readily available, oils vary in their ability to maintain lubricating properties when exposed as thin films to autoclave environment. MINAPURE HANDPIECE LUBRICANT and the oil component of MINAPURE HANDPIECE CLEANER & LUBRICANT is a synthetic oil formulated with an oxidation inhibitor and lubricity additive. Its low volatility helps preserve properties when applied as a thin film. Viscosity is designed to optimize lubrication at handpiece speeds without adding unnecessary viscous friction to the precision ball bearings.
MINAPURE HANDPIECE LUBRICANT is recommended for application after autoclaving or prior to handpiece use.
Greasing
Some handpiece designs require that bearings be periodically lubricated by injecting grease directly into the ball bearing cavity MINAPURE HANDPIECE GREASE is supplied in convenient syringe applicators. Application is according to handpiece manufacturer’s recommendation.
